How many computers can I use CATalyst on?

You can use CATalyst on up to five computers for non-simultaneous use.

What does non-simultaneous use mean?

Non-simultaneous use means using CATalyst on one computer at time. More specifically, simultaneous use means editing jobs on two more computers at the same time. This would be considered a violation of the license agreement.

Other CATalyst features like backup, print, export, etc. are ok and would not be considered simultaneous use.

I sometimes leave CATalyst open inside of a transcript on my office computer all night while I'm working at home on my other computer. Will this be considered simultaneous usage?

No, it would not because you are not actively editing the transcript on your office computer.

If I do a realtime job on my courtroom computer and use Realteam to sync it to my office computer, would that be considered non-simultaneous use?

No, because you would not be editing on the office computer while you are in realtime on the courtroom computer.

How long does my e-Key last?

Similar to other apps, e-Key license is assigned to you. You can use CATalyst for as long as you'd like. We do require that the license be renewed every 90 days but if your computer has an internet connection, the renewal process is automatic and only takes a few seconds.

Do I have to have an internet connection to use CATalyst?

CATalyst will run just fine without an internet connection. When it's time to renew your e-Key, CATalyst will display a message. You can either connect to the internet, renew the license, then disconnect from the internet or use the manual method of renewing your e-Key.

While you don't need an internet connection for CATalyst, you will miss out on great features like Cloud Backup, Realteam, and Business Center.

Do I have to keep an annual Edge plan to continue using e-Key?

No, you do not, but you would be missing out on many benefits that come from having Edge. In addition to having access to Technical Support, having Edge entitles you to future Case CATalyst releases and features the updates provide. Edge also gives you access to Cloud Backup (Stenograph's online backup feature) and RealTeam simultaneous editing.

Can I share my e-Key with my scopist?

No. Your individual e-Key is licensed to you. Even though you are authorized to use your license on more than one computer, sharing with your scopist would be in violation of the license agreement. Your scopist would need their own e-Key.

If I lose my PKC (Product Key Code), will Stenograph send it to me again?

If you lose the original e-mail with your PKC, you can contact Technical Support and they can e-mail your PKC to the address in your account.

Is there a way to get my PKC without contacting Technical Support?

Yes, there is. If you have CATalyst installed on a second computer, from Manage Jobs and click on Help, About Case CATalyst. When the dialog box appears, on the right side, you will see PKC: followed by a sequence of letters and numbers beginning with W.

Alternately you can go to Stenograph's homepage and login into your account by clicking Login in the upper right corner. After you login, click the Person icon in the upper right and click My Account. On the left side click PKC Listing to view your PKC.

I'm getting a message when I open CATalyst that says I'm going to lose CATalyst and Audiosync. What's wrong?

The Feature Expiration dialog box appears when the e-Key renewal date is within 29 days or less from the current date and Case CATalyst cannot connect to our servers to renew the current e-Key license.

If your computer is connected to the internet, click Update my keyless license file to renew your license. If you do not have internet at that time, click one of the Remind me... options and you can use CATalyst normally. Once you do have internet access, the license will automatically renew the next time you open CATalyst.

I have an backup computer that has CATalyst that I haven't used in a long time.  Will my e-Key work with it?

Yes, it will.  If you were using e-Key on the backup computer, the first time you open CATalyst, license will automatically renew.
