Occasionally a new software update will be released for Stenograph produced writers. It is important that the writer is kept up to date as changes may be important to the functionality of the writer. Installing an update for the writer also has the added benefit of automatically syncing your writers time to the set time on your computer.

To install an update for your writer, do the following:

1. Attach your writer to the computer using the included USB cable. Make sure writer is turned on and that there is no job currently open.

2. Navigate to https://www.stenograph.com/writer-downloads.

3. On the website, scroll down to your specific writer, and click on the Build # for your corresponding writer. (eg., Build #23332 for the Luminex II). This will initiate the download for the writer update.

4. When the download finishes, open up the .zip file that was saved then double click on the Update Build application within.

5. On the next screen, confirm the writer is connected to the computer and turned on. Then click Go.

6. A dialogue will open asking if you want to sync the time on your writer to match the time on your computer. Click on your desired action.

7. Once the update is finished, the writer will restart.  You can verify the update was successful by pressing More, Status and checking the version number at the top of the Status screen.  When finished viewing the Status screen, press OK, More.
